Profile:

Professor Aminmansour’s areas of research and scholarship interest include structural steel and reinforced concrete design as well as design of tall buildings.

Structural Steel Design:

  • Member, Committee on Manuals of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) - - Committee is responsible for technical contents of the AISC's Steel Construciton Manual, Seismic Design Manual
  • Member, Technical Commitee 4 of the AISC Specification (Member Design)
  • Developed the formulas and table included in Part Six (Combined Forces) of the Steel Construction Manual (13th ed.)
  • Developed Super Table for Part Six of the AISC's Steel Construciton Manual (15th ed.), Available Strength for Members Subject to Axial, Shear, Flexural and Combined Forces
  • Member, Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC)
  • Member, Australian Steel Institute (ASI)
  • Numerous invited publications and presentations
  • Received AISC's 2015 Special Achievement Award for his paper titled "A New Approach for Design of Steel Beam-Colunns" published in the AISC's Engineering Journal. This was the first in a series of papers by Professor Aminmansour that led to the development of tables and formulas for design of structural steel members subject to combined loads included in Part Six of the AISC's Steel Construction Manual.
  • Currently developing Ready2Steel, a suite of electronic resources for structural steel design including the following features:
    • An integrated comprehensive online textbook on structural steel design
    • Powerful and flexible calculator for interactive design of structural steel and composite members
    • Complete solutions with charts, tables, and formulas that can be saved and/or printed
    • Integration with the latest AISC Specification
    • Very flexible application - - can be used by practitioners to freshen up their steel design skills or learn steel design in more depth as well as by students who are new to structural steel design.
