David Emmons Awarded Honorable Mention in 24H: Mars Competition
The competition’s premise was to envision a settlement on the planet Mars with scientific research purposes that would be co-financed by space tourism. The competition was the 13th edition of the 24H series and received numerous entries from across the globe. Their proposal “Babel: Settlement No. 1” is expressed as a large-scale ant farm that reveals itself in sections similar to the Pyramids of Giza. The proposed capsules use the planet’s rocky volcanic basalt as a building material because it reduces radiation and acts as a natural insulator.
