Spring 2020 Studio Prizes Announced
These awards recognize the outstanding student work at the sophomore, junior, senior, and graduate levels of our curriculum. The Earl Prizes are funded with income from an endowment bequeathed by Edward C. Earl and are awarded for excellence in undergraduate design studios.
The Earl Prize deliberation took place on Friday, May 15, at 4pm. The undergraduate jury was composed of Francisco Rodríguez-Suárez, Sara Bartumeus, and David Chasco. The graduate jury was composed of Kevin Erickson, Aaron Brakke, Andrea Melgarejo de Berry, and Francisco Rodríguez-Suárez.
The undergraduate jury decided to group the junior and senior nominations together, given the lack of representation by the latter. The jury also recommended that in the future the Barcelona projects should compete in this category. Collectively, we felt like the quality and complexity displayed in the junior projects was notable and we commend the complexity of the site and program at this level. The final decision was unanimous.

The graduate jury commends the diversity of the work presented as well as the engagement and seriousness of the nominated proposals. We thoroughly enjoyed the level of presentation and analysis and were impressed by the overall quality. The winner resulted from a unanimous vote, while the rest of the awards and honorable mentions carried the majority of the vote.
