Randy Deutsch has been selected to participate in the inaugural Scholars in Professional Practice program of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) has established a $2,000/year AISC Scholarship for a top student in our undergraduate steel design course who continues to pursue our Graduate Structures concentration.

Randy Deutsch will speak on artificial intelligence in architecture with leaders from ARUP, Amazon, and the CIA at the Design Futures Council’s Leadership Summit on Design Innovation and Technology, which will be held January 17-18 in La Jolla, California.

Doctoral student Nastaran Shishegar and Professor Mohamed Boubekri published a paper in the journal Energy and Buildings titled “Quantifying Electrical Energy Savings in Offices through Installing Daylight Responsive Control Systems in Hot Climates.” Access the article.

Mohamed Boubekri (Co-P.I.) and Kristen Bub (P.I.) from the Department of Educational Psychology were awarded an NIH grant to study the role of daylight exposure in classroom environments on children and teachers’ health, educational functioning, and well-being.

From among over 200 entries, students from the Illinois School of Architecture have won second and third place awards in the 2017 Steel Design Student Competition, a national awards program sponsored by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) and the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
