What is your advisor's role?

You can expect your advisor to do the following:

  • Keep appointments with you, or reach out ASAP if rescheduling or cancellation is needed
  • Discuss your degree process with you
  • Provide you with information and helpful resources
  • Be honest and confidential
  • Listen without prejudice, offer suggestions, and discuss strategies

What is your role?

To get the most out of your advising experience, we ask that you do the following:

  • Make and keep appointments, reaching out ASAP if rescheduling or cancellation is needed
  • Prepare for advising appointments by researching your concerns and writing down questions
  • Explore options for your class schedule before meeting with your advisor
  • Read all emails and newsletters thoroughly to ensure you have the latest information
  • Keep track of important dates and deadlines using the University Calendar
