DESCRIPTION:

The project is to complete a comprehensive design for a new boutique hotel building to be located on an important site in downtown Champaign, Illinois. For the purposes of this project, a “boutique hotel” is defined as relatively small (less than 100 rooms), locally owned and operated, typically located in a central walkable urban district, and offering a unique guest experience as compared to the typical large, corporate chain hotel. For this project, the unique guest experience should be characterized as providing an affordable, well-designed hotel that contributes to the urban character of downtown Champaign with a minimal negative impact on the environment. The project places great value in designing high-performance buildings that achieve innovation in energy efficiency and design excellence.
