About Robin Planas
Robin Planas
Robin Planas is the co-founder of Planas-Calzada Arquitectos, a design studio based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a professor at the School of Architecture of The University of Puerto Rico where he teaches courses in Architectural Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, and Data Visualization. Since 2017, Planas is also a board member of the Puerto Rico Architectural Foundation.
His practice is hybrid in nature, combining architecture, and graphic design as one single discipline always striving for the elusive timelessness in design. His research and teaching interests focus on visual representation and the cognitive qualities of graphic systems. Much of his creative work is in the fields of graphic design, editorial design, and brand identity development.
As a licensed architect in Puerto Rico, he maintains a private architectural practice covering primarily mid-sized projects. His work has been recognized both nationally and internationally by professional organizations such as ACSA, AIA, AIAPR, CEMEX, and CAAPPR.
