About Ian R.
On attending the University of Illinois:
“The professors at the University of Illinois School of Architecture stressed the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to architecture. We were taught to understand and to equally respect the contribution of architectural designers, structural engineers, and MEP engineers in the design of buildings. We were also taught about the importance of preparing proper technical drawings, details, and specifications and about the proper use of AIA documents to transform a design into an actual building. After graduation, the interdisciplinary approach that we were taught allowed me to be productive on my first day of employment; to be respected by fellow employees; to rapidly grow professionally within and outside of my company; and to become licensed as an architect and structural engineer.”
On hiring Illinois graduates:
“WJE participants in the yearly job fair at the School of Architecture and the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois. Through these job fairs and our intern program, we regularly find and hire graduates from the School of Architecture and the School of Civil Engineering. We currently have approximately 90 University of Illinois graduates in our staff of approximately 500 employees (18%). We hire C2E2 graduates from the University of Illinois because they are well prepared to enter the professional world; because they are ready to be productive on the first day of employment; and because potentially they have the ability to be extraordinary and to do their part to enhance our (WJE) reputation and contribute to our success.”
