Earn an Accredited Professional Degree
In the United States, most registration boards require a degree from an accredited professional degree program as a prerequisite for licensure. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) is the sole agency authorized to accredit professional degree programs in architecture offered by institutions with U.S. regional accreditation. The M.Arch 2+ program earns students an accredited degree by offering a comprehensive architectural education, preparing students for professional practice in the U. S. and across the globe.
STEM-Classified Degree Boosts Value
Our Online Master of Architecture degree is STEM-classified. Students who graduate with a STEM-designated degree typically earn more than graduates with a non-STEM degree. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Overall employment in architecture and engineering occupations is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033.”
When studying and conducting research within a STEM-designated degree program, students are able to experience hands-on learning opportunities that will prepare them for real-world application. Working in studios, collaborating on projects, and conducting research are just some of the opportunities that STEM students get to experience when completing their degree.

Become an architect at one of the oldest and most prestigious architecture schools in the nation.
Founded in 1867, Illinois was the first public school of architecture in the United States. In 1873, Illinois was the first American university to graduate an architect, Nathan Ricker. Six years later, Maria Louisa Page, became the first woman to graduate with an architecture degree in North America, and in 1904, Walter T. Baily was the first African American to graduate in architecture. Learn more about this remarkable legacy.
