Lecture; The University of Illinois Memorial Stadium: The First 100 Years
In 2024, The University of Illinois Memorial Stadium celebrates its first 100 years since its grand dedication. Based on their recently published book, Illinois School of Architecture’s Associate Professor Kevin J. Hinders and Assistant Professor Benjamin A. Bross will discuss why and how The University of Illinois Memorial Stadium is one of the most important civic buildings not only on the campus of the University of Illinois and the state of Illinois, but arguably, of the whole of the United States as well. The talk will examine how the Stadium has expressed, and continues to express to this day, the embodied sociocultural, political, and economic forces over the last 100 years.
