About Ellen Bailey
“Architects are complex organisms. Reaching our prime at age 50, it takes nearly thirty years for us to truly mature. Much like a slow-growing oak, we are planted, watered, fertilized, pruned and given time to grow. The University of Illinois’ School of Architecture planted in me all aspects of architecture: design, structures, systems, practice and history which, with the continual flow of experience, has allowed me to branch out in numerous directions: design for schools, universities, hospitals, stores and homes. In this, my mature state, I have the broad canopy that protects and nurtures my 30+staffers because my roots were firmly planted by the University of Illinois.”
