Students in the Illinois School of Architecture’s Spring 2026 ARCH 572 studio recently brought their ideas for the future of Inverness, Mississippi, back to the community they studied.
The studio, led by Assistant Professor Wei (Windy) Zhao, PhD, AIA, LEED AP, developed a series of planning and design proposals titled Goose Chase: Reimagine Inverness Through Design. The proposals explore ways design can strengthen local infrastructure, attract new residents, enhance the appearance and vitality of downtown, and celebrate Inverness’s cultural traditions and community identity.
In September, Dr. Zhao presented the students’ work to local residents and city leaders in Inverness. The proposals were well received, creating an opportunity for the students’ studio work to contribute to ongoing conversations about the community’s future.
