Claire Gaspin and David Emmons Awarded Shortlist Mention for Lighthouse Competition
The competition tasked designers to create an unstaffed structure with a light source to act as a focal point for Geroskipou Beach in Paphos, Cyprus. Their proposal Light Square takes on a new lighthouse typology—one that creates a horizontal halo above the ground rather than a vertical tower. In their proposal, an X-shaped boardwalk dissects a grid of freestanding light posts that are .6 m × .6 m and 3.2 m tall that illuminate during the night and create a new and playful landmark for Geroskipou Beach.
