A graduate student design team led by Associate Professor Lynne M. Dearborn played a pivotal role in developing the City of Peoria’s entry in the Play Everywhere Challenge, a national design competition hosted by KaBOOM! The design team includes Elisa Laurini, Claire McDermott, Kristen Reifschneider, and Elsa Reifsteck, all Master of Architecture students in the Illinois School of Architecture. Development of the competition entry was coordinated by University of Illinois Extension.
The team’s contribution grew out of Professor Dearborn’s Spring 2016 graduate design studio, which was devoted to developing design interventions to create a healthy “Heart of Peoria” in the city's south side neighborhood.
Coverage of Peoria’s finalist status in the Play Everywhere Challenge appears in the Peoria Journal-Star.
