Jack Sherman Baker, Professor Emeritus of the Illinois School of Architecture, died Sunday, November 24, 2013, at the age of 93. This gifted architect, teacher, philanthropist, and friend was widely recognized for his professional distinction in teaching and design. As a professor of Architecture at Illinois for more than 43 years, he touched and inspired countless lives.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served 1-4 p.m.
This celebration of Jack Baker’s life and work will include several friends and colleagues sharing perspectives on the many different areas of life that Jack so beautifully influenced. An exhibition of Jack’s work will be on display, and monographs of his work will be available for all attendees.
To pay tribute to Jack’s life the School of Architecture, in cooperation with Jack’s family, has established a fund in his honor to allow for the maintenance and support of Erlanger House. This option was selected by his family members as the best way to honor Jack’s memory. An online giving site has been established at www.go.illinois.edu/JackBakerMemorial.
