Dr. Mohamed Boubekri (Co-P.I.) from the School of Architecture and Dr. Kristen Bub (P.I.) from the Department of Educational Psychology were awarded a NIH grant to study the role of daylight exposure in classroom environments on children and teachers’ health, educational functioning and well-being. The study will specifically focus on a plausible pathway from daylight exposure, to sleep quality and duration, to children’s health and educational outcomes.

It was recently announced that from among over 200 entries, students from the Illinois School of Architecture have won second and third place awards in the 2017 Steel Design Student Competition, a national awards program sponsored by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) and the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). In the competition, students were challenged to design a new museum utilizing steel as the primary structural material.

On the following day, she will be leading a Smart Cities Symposium to be held at the San Francisco Planning & Urban Research Association [SPUR] open to design professionals as well as the public.
Co-curated by Associate Professor Kevin Erickson, 5x5 Participatory Provocations opened July 11 at the Center for Architecture in New York City and will be on view until October 31, 2017. The exhibit has traveled to five venues in eighteen months - UIUC, Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative, RISD, OMI International Arts Center, and will be up for Archtober - New York City’s Architecture and Design Month.
